My Favorite 10 Projects! (in no particular order)
By: robertpritch8 (https://top-10-327-robertpritch8.glitch.me)
1. Tina Chen's Ocean Gif
What is really interesting about this gif is Tina's use of opacity.
It really gives the impression that there is depth. Also, the waves
don't exactly line up. The gif looks like a stylized picture of the ocean at night
2. Taeyoung's Squiggle Brush
This brush is really cool. When you draw long strokes, it looks almost like lighting
When you do short strokes, it looks like it was put into an image distorter.
Also, it is hard to notice, but there are small amounts of white in the brush, which is a nice touch
3. Rudy Danda's Mood Bot
Aside from the styling of this bot, one really nice touch was the canvas.
In this screenshot, there are red and yellow circles. When you input a mood, it starts
coloring the canvas with a colored circle. The red circles equated to 'excited', while the yellow were for 'happy'.
This is a small thing, but it was cool that you could see the mood changing with the colored circles.
4. Rudy Danda's Magnet Particles
Back to another one of Rudy's projects. There is not much to say about this one
I just think it is cool because it looks like looking at bacteria through a microscope!
5. Brooks Hu's Firework Particles
These fireworks are so pretty. I love the low opacity glow coming off of them.
Also, you can see the variability in how they disperse. They glow in random directions that looks a lot
like fireworks. My favorite part might be how the center is a bright white and transitions into a hue.
6. Vidhi Vazirani's Watch Space
This was a really clever use for the latent spaces. I say that because my latent spaces
were pretty abstract. I hadn't really considered using that project for anything other than art
But I could totally see a potential watch designer using a latent space like
this to help them come up with ideas.
7. Rui's Dogbot
This dog is insatiable! As someone who owns a beagle, though, this is exactly how they are
Like #6, I thought this was a clever use of the assignment. There are tons of video games about owning pets.
So that would obviously translate very well to a chatbot style app.
8. Kelly's Stardew Valley Data Essay
I chose this for a completely selfish reason which is that I play Stardew Valley.
As seen from my last couple choices, I really appreciate a clever use of the assignment prompt.
And this is a perfect example of that. Anyone who has played Stardew Valley will understand
the stress of trying to get certain fish. You basically have to use a wiki for that so this was a great idea.
9. Kelly's Sheep Particle System
Kelly had really great ideas for projects. This is less of a particle system and more of a game.
Most of the particle systems I've seen, I'll mess with the settings for a second and then lose interest.
I seriously played with this one for a while. If there was a score counter, it would be pretty fun to play.
10. Rachel Ruddy's Noise Gif
Last but not least! We have Rachel Ruddy's noise gif. When looking at projects, this one really stuck out to me
It just looks awesome. The color choice is very original. The motion blur looks great. That in particular is interesting
because I'm not sure how to exactly do that. My guess is that you make copies of the main line with lower opacity, but I'm really not sure.
